Changed the shaft coupling between the gearbox and motor. Cleaned the tender body/truck contacts. There is heavy tarnish on the tender. There is some red staining on the items from the liner. The locomotive number is 7012 (Item #5466). This locomotive is ready to roll. When the passenger trains became faster and longer, and the Pacifics were having difficulties maintaining the schedules, the UP decided on the 4-8-2 Mountain type to take up the load. They were built with high drivers and plenty of power and served the UP well until 1956. BLI’s model is patterned after the rebuilt version with a disc main driver, Walschaerts valve gear and Sweeney stack, and uses a 12,000 gallon Semi-Vanderbilt tender. I took it out of the box and ran it around the test track in both directions and it performed flawlessly. It still has the 03 engine number for DCC. The other M1A that I have (and will keep) really sounds great and runs great also. This engine has been kept in a climate controlled home, where there are no smokers and no pets. Here is a Balboa HO Scale Brass Union Pacific 4-8-2 Steam Locomotive #7002. This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent. One metal tender diaphragm has been slightly bent and the paint in this area chipped. This locomotive has been beautifully painted and decorated. The shell has been removed and the shaft coupling has been changed. The motor, axles and gearbox internals have been lubricated. There is a boiler weight in the box. This unit has bench tested good.
