Bachmann Liliput L102902 GEE Henschel Fireless Werklok Tank Loco No. 3 HO Scale
Bachmann Liliput L102902 GEE Henschel Fireless Werklok Tank Loco No. 3 – HO Scale. Lovely example of an unusual model in the Bachmann Liliput’First Class’ range – a Henschel Fireless industrial locomotive in bright yellow GEE livery. The unusual shape of the loco was derived from the fact that the prototype had no firebox or boiler, and therefore no chimney. They operated via an injection of superheated water into a condenser from a stationary boiler, which would provide enough steam for a short period of operation. Whilst this limited their utility to the confines of an industrial site such as a large factory or foundry, it offered a variety of unique benefits including cheap operation, low maintenance, single crewing and a lack of smoke or sparks allowing for work in covered or otherwise volatile environments such as explosives works. Has the general quality to be expected of a Liliput First Class loco, with lighting both ends including upper headlight, smooth running with brass drivegear and a nice level of fine detailing. Would make an eye catching addition to any shunting yard scene. In near mint condition in original packaging with paperwork. Appears very lightly used, with coupling pack still sealed and unused. Please see all photos for details. Track tested and in full working order. Will be carefully packaged for dispatch via tracked service. We have a wide selection of preowned model railway items in our store, with stock being added regularly.

This has been a good runner on my line, but since converting my line to steam running this no longer sees much use. It’s a very nice model and still is in very good condition for its age. Still has its original etched plates, parts diagram, and even the original oil bottle. The outer box is a little tatty but the contents are good. Please inspect the pictures.

This Bachmann Branchline model brings the G2 to OO Scale with a high fidelity rendition of the early-twentieth century powerhouse. With an impressive level of detail and a high performance mechanism, the Branchline G2 is the complete package and now for the first time, this model is available with the option of. The model employs a diecast running plate, along with further metal components to provide an impressive weight ensuring the model’s strength and power match its prototype’s. Meanwhile, those components produced in plastic are precision moulded, with details such as rivets and boiler bands crisply reproduced. Separate parts are then added to enhance the authenticity of the model further, from the metal handrails to the whistle and safety valves, each of which are turned brass. The smokebox door is hinged and can be posed open or closed, whilst within the cab, controls, dials and pipework are all moulded authentically and decorated accordingly. The locomotive’s diecast chassis is enhanced with brake blocks, brake rigging and sandboxes with separate wire sandpipes. Driving wheels are cast to the correct LNWR pattern, whilst the third pair of driving wheels are flangeless, as on the real locomotives. Moving to the tender and the locomotive to tender drawbar is adjustable to suit individual layout conditions, whilst electrical connections are incorporated into the drawbar and a poseable fallplate is fitted to the tender – not only is this a prototypical feature but it serves to reduce the visual impact of any gap in this area which may be necessitated by operating conditions. The tender itself is finely moulded, with several separately applied details including the lamp irons, tank vents, fire tool holder and handwheels. A realistic coal load is included whilst the tender chassis includes brake rigging and metal wheelsets are employed. Bachmann Branchline OO Scale. Pristine LNWR Black livery. Powerful 3 Pole Motor. Locomotive Ready to Accept a Speaker. Equipped with a 21 Pin DCC Decoder Socket – Recommend Decoder item No. Length 231mm (over couplings). The G2 was a class of 60 brand new steam locomotives built between 1921-22, and with a boiler generating a pressure of 175psi, they were the most powerful design the LNWR had ever constructed. From 1924 onwards, the G2s were rebuilt with a belpaire boiler which improved performance even further. The entire class passed into BR ownership in 1948, with the first withdrawals beginning in 1959 and the last in 1964. 49395 has been preserved as part of the National Collection, where it has been restored to running order. These rebuilds were virtually indistinguishable from the G2s and were very successful for the LMS, with over 300 examples rebuilt. Although some were downgraded back to a 160psi boiler and reclassified to G1, the majority of the class was inherited by British Railways in 1948, with the last four cut up in 1964. Not quite satisfied with your order? In operation for over 50 years, Rails of Sheffield has grown to become one of Europe’s largest award winning model railway retailers and an industry leader. Despite five decades of growth and its transformation into an award-winning national and international retailer, Rails has seen rapid expansion in recent years. In 2022, to meet the increasing demand of the ever-growing model railway industry, Rails moved into larger warehouse and office spaces in Dronfield, Derbyshire. Their partnership with the National Railway Museum, Railway Icons and various manufacturers continues to flourish, with multiple exclusive locomotives and rolling stock being designed and developed throughout the year. Now, as we step into 2025, Rails remains the leading name in the model railway industry, with exciting plans for further expansion and continued dedication to serving model railway enthusiasts and hobbyists from South Yorkshire and beyond! A BRIEF HISTORY RAILS ORIGINS 1970. Working from the back of Hedley’s shop on Holmesdale Road, Dronfield on the southern outskirts of Sheffield, interest grew steadily throughout the decade and by the early-1980s, Rails was a fixture at toy fairs and swap meets such as the regular Buxton Pavilion Fair. Between then and 2000, the team regularly attended thousands of events across the UK – building a loyal customer base. LAUNCHING THE STORE 1980. With a growing legion of regular customers building up, a’proper’ shop was required, and Rails moved to Chesterfield Road in Heeley Bottom, a few doors away from the current shop. Rails moved to another shop on Chesterfield Road and established the first part of its permanent base. In 1996, the neighbouring shop unit was acquired and a period of rapid expansion followed. Rails then launched its first website and was pioneering online model railway retail for both new and second hand items. The late-1990s also saw the growth of the’limited edition’ business – with many exclusive liveries commissioned from major manufacturers. Rapid Expansion – 2000. To feed this expanding business, the Barber family scoured the country (and sometimes further afield) acquiring model railway collections. A New Era – 2010. Sadly, Hedley Barber passed away on August 11th 2015, leaving his son John and grandsons Adam and Oliver and John’s wife Tracy to manage the company he founded, with support of other family members and long serving staff. Remaining a family operated business, Rails continued to thrive in the late 2010s. A major milestone was the opening of the impressive show room in 2018, which features beautiful displays of popular locomotives and rolling stock frames amongst real Sheffield steel, stone walling and natural material. This was the catalyst for the refurbishment of the entire’front of house’ shop now occupying five formerly separate units. Rails also branched out into the new areas such as commissioning its own exclusive model product under the new’Rails Limited’ brand, bringing new model to the public such as the Stroudley’Terrier’ steam locomotive with Dapol and North Eastern Railway Electric Autocrat with Heljan. In 2021, Rails opened it all new purpose-built warehouse and offices in Dronfield. The multi-million pound development enable Rails to move all warehousing and administration to this new site to streamline the business and continue to provide customers with the top-tier service they had become accustomed to. In January 2024, Rails acquired Hatton’s Model Railways following its unfortunate closure after many years. Committed to preserving the Hatton’s legacy, Rails is integrating customers with the beloved Hatton’s Directory & product database. Later in 2024, Rails launched the Vintage Toy Shop, showcasing a treasure trove of rare collectables in Sheffield. Rails remains deeply connected to the South Yorkshire community it was established to serve. A True Home-grown Family Business. The 56XX 0-6-2 Tank Locomotives were some of the GWR’s finest workhorses and we’re delighted to welcome OO Scale models of these popular machines back to the Bachmann Branchline range. The prototype’s aura of strength and ruggedness comes across in the Branchline model which packs a punch thanks to the substantial use of diecast metal in the chassis and bunker, ensuring that this smooth-running machine can pull significant loads. Meanwhile the bodyshell is produced from precision moulded plastic components to which separate details are fitted, like the metal handrails, intricate lubricators, tank ventilators and sprung metal buffers. The chassis, powered by a substantial 3 pole motor, carries an 8 pin DCC decoder socket and is adorned with details like the springs, brake blocks, brake rigging and sand boxes – accompanied by separate wire sandpipes. Completing the package is the livery application of rich paintwork adorned with finely printed lettering and numbering to portray the iconic GWR livery at its finest. Bachmann Branchline OO Scale. When the’Big Four’ railway companies were created at the Grouping in 1923, the Great Western Railway (GWR) absorbed most of the lines in South Wales. Here, many railways had been established to serve the coal mines and steel works, and to work these routes, strong and steady locomotives were required. Each of the pre-grouping companies had developed their own locomotives to take on this work, and most favoured tank engines with a 0-6-2 wheel formation. Powerful and sure of foot, the 0-6-2Ts were well suited to working the undulating routes and sharply curved lines that linked the pits and works with the docks. The locomotives did not need to exhibit high top speeds, nor did they travel great distances and so large tanks and coal bunkers were not a necessity either. The Great Western Railway recognised the merits and success of the existing locomotives, but with standardisation in mind the GWR set on designing its own 0-6-2Ts to replace the varied collection of locomotives that it had inherited. Designed by Charles Collett, the first 56XX entered traffic in 1924, just a year after Grouping, and 200 examples would be built before construction ended in 1928. The locomotives proved very successful and all were still in traffic come Nationalisation in 1948, with BR inheriting a fleet of 200 locomotives that would go on to serve them for well over a decade before the first examples were finally withdrawn in 1962. Steam on the Western Region officially ended in 1965, signalling the end of the 56XXs and many would end up at the famous Woodham Brothers Scrapyard in Barry, from which many of today’s preserved locomotives were saved. Nine members of the Class remain today, eight of which came from Woodham’s. Please note this is not a guaranteed service and parcels may take longer to arrive.
