Kato 2016-D N Gauge Finished Model D51 498 Orient Express’88. Accessories: Replacement knuckle couplers. D51 498 was manufactured in 1940 and operated throughout Honshu. It was decommissioned in 1972 and preserved in front of Gokan Station on the Joetsu Line. Sixteen years later, in November 1988, it was restored to working order by JR East, resuming service as it did in its heyday. Its first train towed after its restoration was the then-famous “Orient Express’88, ” which was visiting Japan at the time. It stood in front of the main locomotive, EF58 61, for the final domestic train from Ueno Station to Omiya Station, operating in a double-headed configuration. This particular example is DCC sound fitted and has been track tested on DCC using a Bachmann E-Z Mate controller (address is set to 3). Please see photos of condition – generally excellent in original box with instruction booklet and factory supplied accessories.
