Stunning Key Imports New York Central Class L-3b 4-8-2 Mohawk Locomotive and tender made by Samhongsa in Korea and imported in 1983 (1 of 70). This model represents the Lima version with sunken Elesco feedwater heater and box pok drivers. Tested and runs excellently, Cannon can motor is quiet and smooth with wheels showing very little wear. The brass is in excellent condition with some minor lacquer staining on tender sides. Includes uninstalled smoke deflectors, optional pilot pump guard, and hardware. Box and foam are in great condition. Lots of original foam has lost its memory or is deteriorating and will not serve its intended purpose. I replace or remove inferior foam, use additional padding, water proof, and wrap with plenty of bubble wrap and air pillows as needed. I use oversized boxes with all seams taped ensuring that you don’t receive a box of “parts”. I pay special attention to my brass items, as many have been cherished for decades, were handmade, and deserve to remain a part of modeling history. Thanks for looking at Cherry Picked Trains! A couple of notes. I take packing seriously! I use bubble wrap, plenty of packing material, and sturdy boxes. Loose cars will be wrapped in tissue paper, then bubble wrap. Lionel New York Central. L-3a Mohawk 4-8-2 Steam Engine and Tender. This set looks as if it has not been used, but it was displayed behind glass and is a little dusty beyond what I was able to clean. I tested this set and the Railsounds sounded great and are very loud, but the engine would not move. With more transformer power the engine would hum louder, but it would not move forward or reverse. I didn’t want to press it and damage something so I only tried two or three times. I think from sitting for years in a collection without usage the oil may huge clogged up the workings and it needs to be cleaned. This set was issued with the following features. Die Cast Body and Frame. Metal hand rails and grab irons. Directional Light on Tender with ElectroCoupler. Approximately 28 1/4 Inches Long. The box has some shelf wear and creasing in the corners.
