Tri-ang Railways Remembered R2X Steam Train Hornby Track 1:76 Scale 00-Gauge. The original Tri-ang Railways R2X Passenger Train Set in ~00T gauge was produced by Rovex Scale Models Limited in their Richmond (Surrey) factory in January 1954 and was introduced to the market in a September 1954 trade leaflet. The R2X set can be found listed in the first edition of the Tri-ang Railways 1955 Catalogue. Sets were contained in the usual Tri-ang Railways packaging of red and yellow. Each set was comprised of a Class 3F ~JintyT No. 47606 locomotive in a BR Black livery, two 7 LMS Crimson passenger coaches, an R42 Speed Control Unit with a forward-off-reverse-switch, an instruction manual sheet and a standard track of 12 curves and 2 straights. The Operating and Maintenance Instructions were pasted to the inside of the box lid as is the case with all vintage Tri-ang sets. Diagrams were also incorporated in the middle of the instruction manual sheet. It reproduces the appearance around 1970, when steam locomotives were nearing their end. This steam locomotive can pass through a small radius of R150, making it suitable for operation in small layouts and small spaces. The C12 is equipped with a coreless motor with a flywheel, which is standard equipment for KATO steam locomotives, and has excellent low-speed running performance. It reproduces the running performance suitable for local lines. The leading, driving, and trailing wheels reproduce the realistic appearance of the recent specification with no spokes. The air-acting tubes are printed with copper tubes. There are no white lines on the running board. The headlights at the front and rear are lit on the side facing the direction of travel. There is no switch to turn them off. The headlights are LP42, equipped with an ATS generator, and the sand-spreading tubes are reproduced as early types with separate front and rear distribution. Selectable number plates are included. Car numbers are 42, 46, 51, and 67. A more realistic replacement knuckle coupler (rear) is included. One each of Arnold coupler and knuckle coupler for multiple units (for reverse driving) is included so that you can easily recreate the advantage of reverse driving of tank locomotives.
