Occre Adler Coaches for Steam Train Locomotive 1:24 Scale Model Kit. Photographic instructions make building easy. Coach 1: 190mm x 116mm x 100mm Coach 2: 220mm x 105mm x 100mm Coach 3: 215mm x 72mm x 100mm. The Adler (German for’Eagle’) was the first locomotive that was successfully used commercially for the rail transport of passengers and goods in Germany. The railway vehicle was designed and built in 1835 by the British railway pioneers George and Robert Stephenson of Newcastle. When it finally reached its destination it was put back together at the workshops of Johann Wilhelm Spaeth. The coaches were built in wood by local workshops. It was delivered to the Bavarian Ludwig Railway, Bayerische Ludwigsbahn, for service between Nuremberg and Fürth. On 7th December 1835 it completed its maiden journey from Furth to Nuremberg, along a line measuring 6.04 km in length.. The Adler was a steam locomotive of the Patentee type with a wheel arrangement of 2-2-2 (Whyte notation) or 1A1 (UIC classification). The Adler was equipped with a tender of type 2 T 2. The detailed provenance, of these Coaches and Locomotives, is not known but, when seen in the flesh, it is self-evident that the items have all but certainly been made by the same person who is, or was, either a very accomplished amateur model-engineer, or perhaps a professional builder. They are very well made and painted to a high standard with excellent transfers and all are in very good condition. They measures approx 16 inches long and are al 8 wheel [on two bogies] coaches. Included is coach number 2369 which is 1st and 3rd class with luggage, number 1021 which is 3rd class and luggage and two 3rd class coaches numbers 704 and 838.
