It is an 0-6-2 tank type loco. It is in EX Nr Mt condition protected by its Styrofoam case and wrapped in plastic. Also included are the instructions, a tube of smoke and cleaning fluid (LGB part #50010), a tube of UHU Greenit grease? , some brass colored parts to be mounted, and a 100 Jahre Murtalbahn anniversary plate that can be mounted on the boiler door if so desired. Smoke generator with burnout protection. Twin front & rear lanterns. Electronic voltage stabilization circuit. Three-way control switch in cab. Six drive wheels, 1 traction tire. Furnished cab with instrument panel and engineer. Prototypical livery and lettering. Detailed operating driving gear. Opening firebox door with detailed boiler pipes. Metal plated lantern rings, bell, whistle, and driving rods. Drive unit with 7-pole Buhler motor sheltered from dust & dirt. 2480 grams / 5.29 lbs. 340 mm / 13.39 in. The loco has very minimal rail time, if any at all. I cannot tell for sure (see pictures). I decided to test the loco on a short section of track, just long enough to verify that it did run F&R. Directional lighting works fine, too. I did not test the smoke unit. The box consists of the Styrofoam case as the bottom with an LGB cardboard top. The lid looks to be in EX condition, at first glance, with just a crushed corner; however when looking inside, I see a black smear (see picture) that looks like mold. There is evidence of some light moisture staining at the same corner of the box. I tried a light cleaning with bleach cleanser and nothing happened. Now I wonder if it might be a marker smear. The box has a light smoke cigarette? Smell; but, not moisture. I checked the loco thoroughly and could find no evidence of moisture. Even the inside of the case is exceptionally clean (see picture). RARE Vintage Lobaugh LMT Brass O scale 2-8-4 (C&NW) Steam Loco TLC

Lobaugh made all their own parts, even the motor has a Lobaugh name tag. They were the 1. To utilize 2 rail power pick-up from both the engine and the tender; thus, the wiring between the 2 units. They are very heavy units, for their day, with the engine weighing 6 lbs. And the tender at 2 lbs. The loco is set up to operate on 2 rail DC track; however according to the website mentioned above, it could be converted to 3 rail AC. I tested it on a test track and got no response. I tried switching the plug-ins and got no response. I removed the engine shell (2 screws in the rear and 1 screw in the front) and touched power leads directly to the motor. It hummed and acted like it wanted to turn; but, there was just not enough power. The motor is free, I could easily turn it by hand. The loco shows a fair amount of fine detail, especially for its age. I did notice some paint scratches and other flaws. Front right marker light is missing screw mounted bracket is still there. Left rear tender step is missing. Solder spill on tender axle from making a wire connection. Front engine truck has a solder repair at the left wheel. Light surface rust spots on tender wheels and axles. 3 engine brakes are missing. The website mentioned above says Lobaugh locos were considered mechanical masterpieces and many of todays scratch engine builders prefer parts from these locos. I dont think it would take much to restore this loco in lieu of using it for parts. Because of the size of this package 11-12 lbs. Check out my other listings by clicking on. This is a limited edition Weaver O-scale Pennsylvania RR 4-4-4-4 T-1 Duplex intended for use on a 3-rail system. This was a limited edition and only 750 were made. This is number 185 of the 750. This has been run, but very little. There are two small spots on the rear edge of the cab that are chipped you can see them in the third picture. This is a BEAST! The engine by itself weighs in at almost 8 pounds. The tender is about 14 long! There is not an owners manual included. Here are some of the listed features. Operating knuckle coupler on tender. A First Time Edition from Marklin of a Fine Art handmade model in Brass. German State Railroad Company (DRG) class 05 003 Steam Locomotive & Tender, Cab Forward design. This locomotive is an exquisite, completely equipped brass handmade model in the elegant Dark Red paint scheme of the DRG in Era II. The locomotive has a powerful can motor with a bell-shaped armature that powers a metal gear drive, all driving axles are powered. The triple headlights are warm white LED’s that change over with the direction of travel. The upper lights (headlight for oncoming train) can be turned off separately by means of a switch. The locomotive has open spoke brass wheels. The spacing between locomotive & tender can be adjusted. The engineers cab has windows and a reproduction of the cab interior. Fill-in pieces are included for the cut outs on the skirting so that if required the model can be displayed perfectly in a display case. Additional parts are included to complete the buffer beam. The locomotive tender comes with a Marklin coupler at the rear. The locomotive has many separately applied lines and details. N scale Union Pacific FEF-3 series 4-8-4 steam locomotive by Kato. Ready to run on your DC layout and DCC ready for your decoder. Requires 11″ (282mm) minimum turning radius on ground level track and 15″ (381mm) minimum turning radius on Viaduct track. A total of 45 FEF (four-eight-four) locomotives were built between 1937 and 1944, with the last 10 FEF-3s being delivered in 1944. After World War II, coal supplies were affected by a series of strikes. In order to safeguard operations, UP converted the 800s to oil burning, and a 6,000 US gallons tank was fitted in the bunker space. Otherwise, few modifications were needed to insure years of mainline service. These were the last steam locomotives delivered for the Union Pacific. Number 844, the last of the FEF-3 class, is the longest continuously operating 4-8-4 engine in the world, and the only one never retired by a Class I railroad. Like many of the “late era” steam locomotives, their final design was cut short by the advent of new monarchs of the rails, diesels. Today, FEF-3 #844 (at some times during history also known as #8444 to avoid numbering conflictions with a diesel loco) survives to pull excursion trains as a publicity locomotive for the Union Pacific, and is one the UP’s oldest operating locmotives. Accompanying the “living legend” FEF-3 is always at least one of a pair of Union Pacific Water Tenders, carrying spare water for the steam engine (Water filling stations being a rarity in the diesel era). These unique re-built cars have seen service as both Steam and Gas Turbine Electric fuel tenders before finally settling into their current forms as part of UP’s steam heritage fleet where they operate as separate (but always-present) cars.
