Toy Train History: In Christies Toy Trains by Hugo Marsh he describes the early Marklin golden age paint process: Each tin plate component was hand formed and soldered together by skilled tinsmiths, Then spray – primed and hand – painted by a succession of painters, with a session in the oven between each coat. The best painters, usually women, undertook the last and most complicated phases of detailed paint work and lining. Finally, The pieces were coated with a natural shellac lacquer and baked again. These processes combine to give the thick, lustrous finish, surpassed only by Bing at it’s peak. Item Description: Marklin Prewar Electric Toy Model Train Germany Gauge O Scale Locomotive Vintage. Prewar O Gauge Marklin Blue-Green Color 0-4-0 Locomotive and tender measuring 12 in total length. This odd color steam O gauge engine is model R66/12910 20 volt. The tender is 919-0. The Loco and Tender are all original. The two Loco front wheels are badly warped and fatigued. The rear loco wheels are loose but the castings appear good. The two front light bulbs work but the locomotive motor is not running. Overall original condition is good to very good. Please see sellers other Marklin listings.
