Stunning Key Imports New York Central Class L-3b 4-8-2 Mohawk Locomotive and tender made by Samhongsa in Korea and imported in 1983 (1 of 70). This model represents the Lima version with sunken Elesco feedwater heater and box pok drivers. Tested and runs excellently, Cannon can motor is quiet and smooth with wheels showing very little wear. The brass is in excellent condition with some minor lacquer staining on tender sides. Includes uninstalled smoke deflectors, optional pilot pump guard, and hardware. Box and foam are in great condition. Lots of original foam has lost its memory or is deteriorating and will not serve its intended purpose. I replace or remove inferior foam, use additional padding, water proof, and wrap with plenty of bubble wrap and air pillows as needed. I use oversized boxes with all seams taped ensuring that you don’t receive a box of “parts”. I pay special attention to my brass items, as many have been cherished for decades, were handmade, and deserve to remain a part of modeling history. Thanks for looking at Cherry Picked Trains! This listing is for a model of a New York Central J3a Hudson in the streamlined cladding designed by renowned industrial designer, Henry Dreyfuss. These iconic steam locomotives were the heroines of the water level route. This Rivarossi model was made for the European market (the box is labeled in the Italian). It is also seen in one of the photos that the tender is equipped at the factory with the typical Rivarossi “pick-axe” style coupler to operate with the European style buckle couplers. The locomotive will, of course, function in North America, Japan, Oceania, or worldwide for that matter. Any place with HO DC analogue supply can operate this amazing piece of Americana. I tested it for the listing and all went well. I really enjoyed testing it. This is a beautiful model in excellent condition and I hate to have to sell it. On offer is a beautiful J-3 Hudson. I will go over each component. Locomotive: Appears all in great condition, solder joins are all tight, I cannot see any missing parts. Locomotive runs smooth, current draw is around 1A (as expected with this KTM motor) and steadily drops with running. The locomotive has been very well kept, and ready for final tuning and finishing. Tender: Again appears all in good condition. There is one corner step with a loose bracket, bracket is in place and straight on the model. Trucks are packed separate. All remaining parts and screws/springs/washers are in the various parts bags shown. Original box, serial numbers on box and loco match. Signed for add 3.00AUD please. Australia Post is not cheap, this model is huge, and so is the packaging. I have set post at 150AUD. Once I know your address, there may be variance, I have quoted on the high side for post.
