Up for sale is a. 3rd Rail Brass GN/Great Northern 2-8-2 O8 Steam Engine O-Scale 2-Rail USED. Hard piece to find. Body is overall very good condition. It appears all details are intact. Incredibly well detailed brass piece. Slight bend in the front cowcatcher section (See photo). One nasty blemish on the side of the tender (may be fixable). The front cowcatcher had to be soldered back on. The engine has been tested and works. This is 2-Rail DC powered only. There is NO SMOKE UNIT. Wheels & Rollers show minor wear. Box was heavily damaged and repaired. There is some additional incomplete paperwork and pictures added in the box by the previous owner. Extra protective cushion may be added inside the foam insert to keep the item from shifting around. Please look at the pictures to see exactly what you will receive. This is the O-scale Lionel 6-38028 Pennsylvania S-2 Steam Turbine #6200 6-8-6, 3 rail. This has been very slightly run. Stored in the box with no dust or damage. Test run on AC only did NOT test the Command Control. This is a magnificent item. This monster is 30Inches long! Powered by a 6900 horsepower Westinghouse direct steam turbine engine, the Pennsylvania S-2 was one of the first attempts at holding on to the age of steam. The constant torque of the rotary turbine eliminated the power loss found in the reciprocating parts of a conventional steam locomotive. Even though the massive 6-8-6 weighed almost one million pounds, the S-2 exceeded the performance of a 6000 horsepower diesel above forty miles per hour. Our model features newly enhanced tooling. Weve added many new separately applied details, most noticeably a set of elephant ear smoke deflectors that equipped the S-2 in its later life. The cab interior includes a flickering firebox and cab window glass.
