Directional lighting works fine. I noticed smoke coming out of the smoke unit before I thought to turn it off. This loco is very finely detailed, much like vintage brass engines. There is a water hatch cover missing on top of the tender that hides the smoke unit control. There are a couple of tiny paint nicks on both units (see PICs). Wheels show light rail time. No other apparent flaws. This engine alone weighs 1 lb. And, with 12 drive wheels and 2 traction bands, it should pull a good size load. It will look great running the rails of your layout. Locomotive front headlight works but rear tender light does not. Overall the loco runs well and there is moderate wheel wear. Loco number is the DCC address. This item was acquired from a MTH warehouse cleanup in Cumberland, MD. This one of a kind piece was part of the production and test sample department. S Scale Brass Sunset Models Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 Challenger Nice In Box Up Rare

Nice condition with box. Only made one year, one run, 1987 by Dong Jin. The only modern brass S scale UP Challenger made! Small detail parts were snagged by the foam over the years & came off the model as the photos show. They’ll be included in a parts bag. Other than that the overall condition is nice. There are a couple areas of minor tarnish as well. Also there is a small dent on the boiler as the picture shows. I didnt test it but the model has lived its whole life in the box and original foam its very nice condition save for the minor condition issues it has. I dont think any parts are missing. Just the previous owner had it in the foam without using the plastic and the sticky out parts of the model got snagged on the foam. When taking the model in and out of the foam over the decades. Im thinking it will run just fine based on the condition. If you look at the pictures of the bottom of the engine and tender they look like maybe never ran. Might just need woken up and a touch of oil. The top foam pieces are included, just not shown in pictures.
