K4 4-6-2 Steam Engine and Tender. This set has minimal wheel and pick-up wear. Set is very clean and spent most of it’s life behind glass in a collection. I tested this unit and it worked great and sounded awesome. I wanted to point out that one traction tire has deteriorated and needs replacing. I didn’t replace the tire, but there are replacements in the box in the parts bag. Some of the features of this set. High Torque Pittman Motor. Minimum Radius is O-54. Lionel New York Central. L-3a Mohawk 4-8-2 Steam Engine and Tender. This set looks as if it has not been used, but it was displayed behind glass and is a little dusty beyond what I was able to clean. I tested this set and the Railsounds sounded great and are very loud, but the engine would not move. With more transformer power the engine would hum louder, but it would not move forward or reverse. I didn’t want to press it and damage something so I only tried two or three times. I think from sitting for years in a collection without usage the oil may huge clogged up the workings and it needs to be cleaned. This set was issued with the following features. Die Cast Body and Frame. Metal hand rails and grab irons. Directional Light on Tender with ElectroCoupler. Approximately 28 1/4 Inches Long. The box has some shelf wear and creasing in the corners. High Torque Pittman motor. Die-cast boiler, frame and tender. Articulated RailSounds 4.0 with TowerCom, CrewTalk and DynaChuff. TrainMaster Command Control equipped. All 16 driver wheels powered. Fan driven smoke generator. Engineer & Fireman figures. Operates on 072 diameter or greater curves. Brand-New Condition with Original Box. The box had damage done to it and the foam insert. I wrote in my notes the sound was unbelievable and I now know why. It’s equipped with the FatBoy speaker system, which in my opinion is the best sounding system in the business for any scale train, even the monster 1 gauge units. To me this unit sounds the best.
