Here is a Fulgurex/KMT HO Scale BRASS 4-8-4+4-8-4 Beyer – Garratt Steam Locomotive. This locomotive features extremely detailed unpainted brass construction, metal wheels, and motor. Please see my pictures for additional features. This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent. These units are remarkably unique and are sure to impress any collector! There are a few tarnished spots on these items. The wheels have been cleaned. This unit has bench tested good. The original box is included, along with the foam liner. Big and brawny looking locomotive has working smoke and headlight. This locomotive runs as good as it looks. It has been modified by the previous owner so that it picks up power through the tender trucks instead of through the drivers. These locos had reliability problems with the drive wheels not picking up power reliably when they started to pit or get dirty. Easily grades C-7 Excellent or better by Train Collectors Assn. Locomotive and tender are in great shape and show no wear. Unit was tested and runs well in both directions, could probably use a re-lubrication due to age on shelf. Boiler weight is in box and has not been installed, couplers also have not been installed. Includes a set of Champ decals. Box has crease on top but is otherwise in great shape; foam is in great shape. Lots of original foam has lost its memory or is deteriorating and will not serve its intended purpose. I replace or remove inferior foam, use additional padding, water proof, and wrap with plenty of bubble wrap and air pillows as needed. I use oversized boxes with all seams taped ensuring that you don’t receive a box of “parts”. I pay special attention to my brass items, as many have been cherished for decades, were handmade, and deserve to remain a part of modeling history. Thanks for looking at Cherry Picked Trains! A couple of notes. I take packing seriously! I use bubble wrap, plenty of packing material, and sturdy boxes. Loose cars will be wrapped in tissue paper, then bubble wrap. This set is an engine & tender combo. The engine is numbered 811. One of the most celebrated locomotive series in railroading history, Union Pacific’s Mighty “800’s” established new standards for performance upon their debut in the 1930s. One of the early FEFs (UP shorthand for “four-eight-four”) stood up to a 1938 national speed test, hitting the 102 mph mark with a 1,000 ton load, outstripping the competition put up by Pennsylvania and Chicago NorthWestern! In 1962, the UP’s #844 (the last of the series) was reconditioned and renumbered 8444.
