4-8-4 GS-2 Steam Engine and Tender. This set looks new to me, but I listed it as used because I noticed a small chip on the front of the tender, as-pictured. The sounds on this set are garbled and a new, fully charged battery is needed so the engine will perform properly. This set was part of a huge collection and spent it’s life behind glass and was never used. Because of this the battery was not kept charged and needs to be addressed for the system to perform properly. I programmed this set into my remote and did a quick spin and it worked great, but the sounds were garbled as noted above. The system information states this engine has. 5 scale miles on the odometer (I can supply a picture if interested). The inner factory wrapping was missing when I received this set so I wrapped the engine and tender in new tissue paper so that it is properly secured in the box and will show up in great condition. This is a massive, great looking engine. Some Features of this Item. Precision Flywheel Equipped Motor. All Metal Wheels, Gears and Chassis. Operates on O-54 Curves. MTH O Scale Union Pacific UP 4-12-2 9000 Steam Engine P2 Item 20-3293-1 Damaged

MTH Union Pacific 9000. 4-12-2 Steam Engine and Tender. This is a big, great looking set but I believe there is an issue with the clip that attaches the tender to the engine. The volume on the set is very low and when I go to adjust the volume on the tender it doesn’t change. Also, the smoke system isn’t active and when I go to increase the flow on the tender there is no change. I had issues with this particular MTH clip on two other engines. I tried to contact MTH with no luck. I wanted to get specifics on what a replacement clip would cost and if it needs to be soldered or if I would be able to replace myself. I decided to sell as-is with the understanding that it has the issues highlighted above, plus a small nick on the tender top corner and one set of loose stars on the tender (please read below). I was able to program this set into my remote and it went great. I was able to go through the various other functions and they all seemed to worked fine, just very low volume and no smoke. When I initially stared testing this unit it had 40.1 scale miles. I started it up and ran it a few times while waiting to get someone at MTH, so the set may have approximately 50 – 60 scale miles. Also, I wanted to note that the tender stairs came off when I was placing it back in the box. The stairs are pictured as attached, but they have come loose and I included them in the box. I’m sorry, but I didn’t note if it was the front tender stairs or rear, I think it was the front, but not sure and don’t want to take the set out again and risk additional damage. I cleaned this set the best I could, but it’s still a little dusty in the hard to reach areas. I know this set wasn’t used much and was displayed for a short period of time. Beautiful engine priced right for some who can fix the tether clip if that is the issues – not sure, but think it is! The following are some of the great features of this set. Die Cast Boiler and Tender. The box has some shelf wear, scrapes and store stickers. Let me know if you have any questions. The large drivers gave the locomotive a high top speed; the telling mark of a steam engine built for passenger service. The GS-4 was built for the Southern Pacific Railroad by the Lima Locomotive Works and delivered in the early 1940s for the SPs premier passenger trains, finding its way to the Daylight series of name trains. One of the more unique specifications for the GS-4 by the SP was its Mars light, a necessity with the large amount of grade crossings and fog present on the West Coast. The Mars light, like ditch lights on modern locomotives, was utilized as a warning for grade crossings that a high speed train was approaching, its shifting light patterns serving as an eye catcher in foggy conditions.
