PREWAR LIONEL 227 SEMI-SCALE 0-6-0 DIE CAST PRR STEAM SWITCHER WITH 2227B BELL RINGING TENDER. LOT DESCRIPTION: As the title says this lot consists of a Prewar Semi-scale Lionel 227, 0-6-0, Die Cast Pennsylvania Railroad steam switcher with the correct matching 2227B Bell ringing Tender that was made in the early 1940s.. The locomotive has a operating headlight and automatic front coupler and the die cast tender has the all metal staple end trucks with coil coupler and it also has the bell ringing feature and a back up light. Both pieces are all original Post War Lionel including all original paint, letters and numbers. DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION: The locomotive and tender are both in collector quality condition. The loco casting is perfect, no breaks, cracks or chips. Both classification lights (often broken off) are perfect as are the front cowcatcher steps. No rust or missing parts, great color, numbers nice and clear, drive rods and wheels all fine as is the front coupler. The tender too looks fine, no cracks, breaks or chips on the shell, lettering nice and sharp, coupler in great shape. Wires to connect the tender to the loco are fine. No real issues here at all, hardly a mark on the set. Again, a really great looking set that IMHO I would rate as in C-7, excellent plus condition but look at the pictures and you be the judge for the pictures are an important part of the description and say more than my words ever can. WORKING CONDITION: I have cleaned, serviced and tested the locomotive and it runs and reverses just fine, a little slow but probably just needs ran (been packed away for the past 50+ years), the headlight works fine, the e-unit cycles fine, the belling ringer works fine and, the tender rear light works too. I usually leave feedback once every 7 to 10 days and only after I have received feedback. LOOK AT THE PICTURES, READ THE DESCRIPTIONS. Leaving negative feedbacks without first trying to resolve the issue is not to neither of our benefits. Ask now, not after you have won the item! Have had to re-list, again. This locomotive was Accucraft’s own display model – hence the photograph of it on display. Lovely performer, with factory fitted RC. A bit like a Lady Anne, but more attractive in my view with it’s Hunslet-esque appearance and twin miniature safety valves, brass dome and copper capped chimney. Has the added bonus of a water gauge too. The only improvements I’ve made are a fine thread gas valve, a water fill valve and improved RC Transmitter and receiver – now 2.4Ghz (C3-STX pro 2.4 FHSS). Accucraft’s RC set-up allows easy manual control, if required. Here is the description from their website. Can be provided with water bottle if required. Also full instructions for use. Lawley is a freelance side tank locomotive with design inspirations from Hunslet. The loco is internally gas fired with a centre flue boiler. The boiler is fitted with a water gauge glass which will allow for continuous running with the addition of a boiler filler system. The model is gauge adjustable from 32mm (O gauge) to 45mm (1 gauge) and has insulated wheels as standard. The axles run in bronze bearings and all the rods and valve gear are manufactured from stainless steel. The engine is available in manual or radio control versions. The cab roof flips up and over sideways to give access to the gas, water and lubricator fillers. The boiler is fitted with a water blow down valve and the displacement lubricator has an under floor drain valve. The model is built from stainless steel and brass, and with the correct maintenance, will give a lifetime of pleasure. Scale: 16mm to 1 foot (1:19). Length over couplings: 360mm (13 ins). Gauge: 32mm or 45mm. Width: 116mm (4 ins). Min Radius: 0.75M (30 ins). Height: 160mm (6 ¼ ins). Weight: 3.8 kg (8¼ lbs). Reversing Gear: Piston type, reverse by lever in the cab. Valve Gear: Simulated Stephensons link. Boiler Fittings: Safety valve, pressure gauge, water blow down valve, water level gauge glass.
