The locomotive is operational we did not test the smoke function. The only damage we could find was on the coal car the rear ladder appears to be missing one side of the upper loop clearly shown in photo’s. The entire thing is brass and it is again all there. The original box and packaging is in very good condition with no rips or tears in the box, and only few minor scuffs here and there. It reads “Rio Grande HOn3 2-8-0 K-27″. As for condition again we are not experts and we have done our best to provide photo’s of the item for you to make your decision. For sale is a new complete kit of the Virginia and Truckee locomotive Reno in O scale as it appeared in the 1920’s. Also included is the motorizing kit to make this a powered model. These were made in Italy by Rivarossi. The kit is mostly plastic with metal detail parts. The motorizing kit has molded metal weights for added traction. With careful assembly and painting, this kit will make a very nice model of a popular locomotive. Some time ago, I got an assembled model of the Genoa; it is really nice and it runs quite well. But failed to notice that it is the modern version of the loco and not the earlier version that I wanted. The kit does not have the parts to allow for back dating and I don’t really need to add to the project queue, so it is time for it to find a new home. There is some packing in the box, but with all the small parts there will be some “rattle”.
