Up for sale is this vintage AHM 4-6-6-4 Challenger Union Pacific Locomotive number 5113-02, Road Number 3967. This is HO Scale and made by Rivarossi. Nearly 50 years old and still looks great, only one little paint chip as shown in picture 6 could I see, there may be more but they are few. The box does show some signs of wear, missing flaps and plastic insert is yellowed and brittle. Was bench tested only by touching transformer leads to terminals on motor and it did run and light. Bachmann China CS00106 QJ Zhu De Steam Locomotive 2470 HO Scale. The QJ’s were the largest type of standard steam locomotive in the People’s Republic of China. The first prototypes were built in the 1950’s, and at the end of the production in 1988, nearly 5,000 had been built. In the early 1980s, many of the original 8 wheel tenders were replaced with larger 12 wheel versions which gave the locomotives a much larger range. Details The forth and most recent addition to the QJ series was a single version and very famous Harbin based locomotive, named after Chinese general Zhu De. This was Bachmann’s first (and hopefully not last) 8 wheel tender version. A ladder was also included to be attached to one side of the tender. Performance The engine ran every bit as good as the previous series, but this time they’ve finally got the center driving wheel figured out with the correct size and flangeless. The tender has been designed to house a sound decoder with speaker holes cast into the bottom. It happily accepts the DXDC 5302 (QJ) sound decoder and should be able to fit many others. It is a 2-part loco. I have the 2 original boxes in EX condition with the protective Styrofoam cases and protective paper & plastic wrappings. No instructions; but, I dont think it ever had any. Operation is pretty straight forward. Pittman 0-24v DC motor. Brass & stainless steel construction. Superbly detailed and articulated model. Quality paint and lettering. Radius = 4 ft. Measures 27 x 4 ½ x 6 ¼. I tested the loco on a 10 section of track and it ran well in F & R. Directional lighting works fine. The loco is dusty with a couple of dirt smudges. Wheels show a little rail time. The black paint trim shows some light wear/scratches (see pictures). No apparent cracks, breaks, corrosion, or missing parts. Because of the size of this package 12-13 lbs. Please be specific about what you want to see.
