Early 1980’s G gauge Aster Baldwin B1 0-4-2 live steam locomotive. Internally meths fired with slip eccentrics, double acting cylinders with D valves, blower, regulator, lubricator, pressure gauge and water gauge. Untested but in good overall condition. I can’t see any mechanical faults. The wheels and motion move freely in both directions. The blower and regulator open and close as they should. Crucially this has had the burner and flue modifications done professionally. The burner has been re-designed to remove the front wick and the flue above it has been plugged. These mods are critical to performance as many owners of these found that the front wick had a tendency to blow out leaving the corresponding flue to draw in cold air. The wheels have been painted red and the hinged rear section of the roof is missing. There is a kink in the left hand railings on the tender. All other details are present. You’ll need a blower fan to raise steam and a trackside water pump or similar to add water to the boiler as these are not included. Please see my other items. 16mm NGM Association member. Part built loco and with the amount done there is not a huge amount left to do. The major item will be a burner to be constructed and boiler testing. It is SM32 scale and 45 mm gauge (fixed), and is radio controlled (2.4 GHz) on steam regulator and direction. It has had little use, runs well in forward and reverse and is in very good condition with no damage but does have minor water mark and oil stain blemishes commensurate with careful operation. Fuel is Butane or Iso-Butane gas. A smart charger is included for charging the re-chargeable batteries in the loco and the transmitter (when fitted with 8 x AA re-chargeables), and operating instructions are included for this finely engineed model. Information taken from Roundhouse website describes the model as follows. This is a model of an O-4-4T steam locomotive running on the Ffestiniog railway in North Wales that was built at Boston Lodge Works in 1999 being the third loco to carry this name. It has internal gas firing using the’FG’ type burner. Inside framed O-4-O power bogie with Roundhouse Internal Walschaerts valve gear. Water top-up system and water gauge. Controls fitted as standard are: steam regulator, safety valve, pressure gauge, displacement lubricator, gas regulator and reversing gear. Dimensions (loading gauge) are: Length 360mm over buffers, Width 110mm, Height 130mm, Weight 3.9Kg. Full radio control for both regulator and reversing gear using 2.4 GHz R/C. Hand operated water supply pump internally mounted in tender. Should be powerful enough to pull 4 people. Lovely loco to add to any collection. Includes 1 length of 3.5 gauge display track. Few little bits want finishing like two more buffers for the rear as theres only two front ones. A support arm end at the front of the loco boiler etc. Believed to be unfired so will want checking over and a hydraulic test first any steam club will usually include hydraulic tests and steam tests free with the price of there membership. Or deliver in person so its really safe if I have to travel near you for my job (disinfected wearing a mask deliver to doorstep only).
