Kato N Scale Union Pacific Greyhound Locomotive DC/DCC Ready. Wahsatch Model Trains is pleased to announce that we can now supply custom painted Kato DC/DCC/Sound locomotives. The locomotive shown is brand new from Kato, N Scale 4-8-4 DC Steam Locomotive. It has had a new boiler shell applied that was custom painted to match the excursion era Union Pacific 4-8-4 Northern, #8444. The proptotype locomotive operated in this paint scheme for a number of years starting in 1989. This is not a used item, it is brand new and custom decorated for Wahsatch Model Trains. If you would like a similar model with a different number, we will can custom make one for you too! In addition, we can also supply you with DCC decoders and DCC Sound Decoders. This is a Kato model, having never owned brass but hearing about the nightmares of there running and pulling capability’s, they sound pretty bad, but the Kato, has no issues, can pull up to 50 cars from our testing, and looks amazing, and now in greyhound!! HO Scale Van Hobbies Brass Custom Painted CNR U1f Class 4-8-2 Mountain Canadian National #6060. It was built in 1976 by Samhongsa in South Korea and is in excellent shape. Has been strictly a display piece by the current owner. Was track tested in our shop and runs well. No tender backup light. It does run OK at slow speeds, but since it has not been broken in over the years it will likely need servicing prior to long term operating if that is the goal. Locomotive was custom (not factory) painted by Proto Paint in Whitby, ONT. Model has appropriate window glazing, knuckle coupler on the tender and on the loco. N Scale Key/Yulim (Korea) Brass 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Super Rare In Custom Case. TRACK TESTED AND SERVICED NEW. REAL NICE SHAPE NOTHING BROKEN. KEY YULIM BRASS 2-8-2 MIKADO. I don’t know what the whole “Yulim” story is, but whatever the case, they had a relatively brief career as far as N scale brass locomotives are concerened (consisting solely of these Mikados and a 4-8-4 Northern). Nevertheless, these are fine looking models that perform admirably. The locomotive chassis is all metal and fairly minimalistic (with most of the actual heft being provided by the shell). The motor is an open-sided, straight-wound 5-poler. Current is transferred from the tender to the motor via the metal drawbar (aided by a stiff metal wire affixed to said drawbar). Only the center pair of drivers are geared (the others being turned solely by the valve gear). Apart from the brass worm gear, all the gearing is plastic. There is no lighting. A dummy (non-opertional) coupler is mounted to the pilot. There is no coupler on the tender, although a Micro-Trains friendly pocket is provided. Wheels are low profile, so no problems on Code-55 rails. The second pair of drivers (from the front) is equipped with traction tires. And in an odd switch, a replacement driver pair is included in the box – but also with traction tires! Despite the relatively primitive electrical conductivity scheme (IE, the drawbar), overall performance is quite solid. It runs smoothly and quietly at all throttle levels. No problems derailing on narrow radius curves. On the minor quibble front, the top-end speed is excessive (so, y’know, don’t give it that much throttle). But overall, they’re very nice looking steamers that certainly run well enough to join an operational fleet. International Buyers – Please Note. This is one of the most beautiful 2 Track Shays I have built. It’s the third one of this kind. The engine is brand new – only test run. It comes directly out of my diorama shop. It’s very easy and maybe 3 to 5 minutes time. All the parts from the wooden top are very precise fitting on the engine.
