Beautiful and highly detailed brass model. Condition is pretty good. It’s been in storage for ages, the model was wrapped in good plastic and there is no rot. Pictures show all the detail. I got this at an estate sale, so I can’t be sure, but the wheels show no sign of wear so I think it’s been in storage since new. I ran it on my tiny test track (I only have a few feet of HO track) and at a slow speed it’s a bit noisy. I suspect it needs lube, and I understand these old brass models required some run in to get smooth running. Track is not included. Gem Models Reading 2-8-0 Camelback class I5c locomotive and tender made in Japan by Olympia and imported in 1961. Model is in good original condition, tarnish consistent with age. Wheels show light wear, plating is intact. Model runs well in both directions with working light. Lots of original foam has lost its memory or is deteriorating and will not serve its intended purpose. I replace or remove inferior foam as needed, use additional padding, and wrap with plenty of bubble wrap. I use sturdy boxes with all seams taped ensuring that you don’t receive a box of “parts”. I pay special attention to my brass items, as many have been cherished for decades, were handmade, and deserve to remain a part of modeling history. Thanks for looking at Cherry Picked Trains! Model runs well, is noticeably louder in reverse. Two center drivers have been turned down to blind drivers to help with turning radius. Lots of original foam has lost its memory or is deteriorating and will not serve its intended purpose. I replace or remove inferior foam as needed, use additional padding, water proof, and wrap with plenty of bubble wrap and air pillows. I use oversized boxes with all seams taped ensuring that you don’t receive a box of “parts”.
