They had already been allocated fleet numbers which were retained by the new owners but it was only when the ex-contractors engine No. 18 Ailsa was officially numbered in 2005 that the fleet had ever been in correct sequence. These railcars have been the subject of much controversy in the late 1990s when their over-budget rebuild was brought to a halt by incoming management and since this time no work has been done on them. The preservationist group Isle of Man Steam Railway Supporters Association have campaigned for their completion, especially in conjunction with a potential commuter train services between Port Erin, Castletown and Douglas, which would extend the service that is laid on annually by the railway in connection with the T. The TT Commuter service is currently run using a steam locomotive and hauled stock, which leads to high operating costs. A shift in management attitude could see their return to service in the future, but for the time being, they remain in store at Douglas station awaiting completion and return to service. This although ran well I wanted to see if I could make it run even better so I sent it out to Caboose hobbies (have receipt). They loosened it up dialed it in and this ran great. Put it on a display case and thats where it was until now. I dont have any way to run it anymore, but Im confident it still be the same. I may have had it slightly weathered but shuttle. Beautiful Overland Models Reading Class I-8sb 2-8-0 made in Korea by MS Models and imported in 1988. Model is in excellent condition, has been run, and shows light wheel wear. Excellent details with full in cab detail. I would note that the cylinder fronts and boiler front castings are a darker brass alloy. Original box and foam are in excellent condition, and includes spare parts and tool. Lots of original foam has lost its memory or is deteriorating and will not serve its intended purpose. I replace or remove inferior foam, use additional padding, water proof, and wrap with plenty of bubble wrap and air pillows as needed. I use oversized boxes with all seams taped ensuring that you don’t receive a box of “parts”. I pay special attention to my brass items, as many have been cherished for decades, were handmade, and deserve to remain a part of modeling history. Thanks for looking at Cherry Picked Trains! A couple of notes. I take packing seriously! I use bubble wrap, plenty of packing material, and sturdy boxes. Loose cars will be wrapped in tissue paper, then bubble wrap. In 2005 The War Office Locomotive Society repatriated No. 1215 from Australia and its restoration is nearly complete. The model is internally gas fired and has slide valve cylinders. The boiler is fitted with a water gauge with blow down valve, lubricator with drain and pressure gauge. It will be available in either 32mm (gauge 0) or 45mm gauge (gauge 1), the latter as per the 3 gauge locos supplied to Balfour Beatty in Scotland.
