The locomotive is operational we did not test the smoke function. The only damage we could find was on the coal car the rear ladder appears to be missing one side of the upper loop clearly shown in photo’s. The entire thing is brass and it is again all there. The original box and packaging is in very good condition with no rips or tears in the box, and only few minor scuffs here and there. It reads “Rio Grande HOn3 2-8-0 K-27″. As for condition again we are not experts and we have done our best to provide photo’s of the item for you to make your decision. HO Scale Brass Model. Vulcan 50-ton Duplex Two 2 truck. This model is in pretty good shape. We’re giving it a grade of Excellent. It’s unpainted with some tarnish. United Scale B&O Power 2-8-0 Locomotive & Tender NIB. Please note that one of the Domes have become unattached from the boiler as shown in the photo’s. Please look it over carefully. It looks as though it was just a poor solder job from the factory. There is no other damage that I can see and the Dome is not deformed in any way. Original Box and Packing, some foam starting to show age. Items will be wrapped in bubble wrap to protect them as needed from deteriorating foam. These are not toys and most are over 40 years old. Please note that I do not have the ability or inclination to test each and every one of these units. My dad never owned a piece of track and did not get to realize his Great Northern railroad in his retirement so, good or bad, these locomotives are as he bought them all those years ago. Having said that, there may be issues that are well known in the community with deteriorating plastic parts or known mechanical or quality control issues with manufacturers over the years that are well documented on the internet. This is a wonderful hobby and I’ve met many fabulous people so I certainly don’t want any unhappy customers.
