16mm scale Tony Sant Finescale Engineering GVT’Sir Theodore’ live steam locomotive in very good working condition with original Finescale wooden box. It is meths fired with a silver soldered copper pot boiler, Wheldon type heat shield and geared manual control with reversing lever. Currently set to SM32 but easily re-gaugable to 45mm using grub screws. The body simply lifts off the chassis for servicing by pulling the centre buffers which are reverse sprung to hold the body in place. I most recently steamed this just yesterday and despite it being quite windy it ran really nicely. It can handle my tight radius curves with ease. I took a couple of short video clips, one of which I have put on youtube for viewing. Here is the link. Mechanically it is in very good condition. The gears are not showing any visible signs of wear. I’ve never been able to get the steam whistle to sound – the valve opens and from what I can see, some steam enters the whistle but not enough to sound it – something to fettle. There are a couple of minor areas of paint loss on the chassis but overall this loco is in lovely condition – especially when you consider its age. The body is in excellent condition too with no dents or scratches. The paintwork is like new and unmarked and it has a high quality lining job with works/nameplates. Length over buffers 25cm.
