Here we have an LGB 20761.1 G gauge Locomotive – please examine all the photos to assess. Sorry that I do not know much about this loco. I have mainly collected Mamod locos and bought this LGB loco to go on display with my collection. Made by LGB in Germany. Name plate “Deutsche Reichsbahn” on both sides. Loco in black ; Metal and plastic construction; wheels/axles good (photos 13 & 14); Buffers to the front and buffers and couplings to rear present. Although I can not see any reason why it will not run, I can not guarantee this. There are no instructions, although these may be obtained on the internet or. Through LGB or their dealers. The loco measures approximately: 10 inches by 4 inches by 6 inches high. Appears in very good condition There are some surface marks to one side, tried to highlight in photo 8. Please use the photos to assess. Please note two small plastic lens covers for the lights are missing, one at the front and one at the back – photos 15 & 16. There is no original packaging, however please be assured it will be well packed for despatch. Please use ALL the photos, they illustrate the condition better than my words, to satisfy yourself over the condition of this item, as what you see is what you will receive.. A BRIEF HISTORY RAILS ORIGINS 1970. Working from the back of Hedley’s shop on Holmesdale Road, Dronfield on the southern outskirts of Sheffield, interest grew steadily throughout the decade and by the early-1980s, Rails was a fixture at toy fairs and swap meets such as the regular Buxton Pavilion Fair. Between then and 2000, the team regularly attended thousands of events across the UK – building a loyal customer base. LAUNCHING THE STORE 1980. With a growing legion of regular customers building up, a’proper’ shop was required, and Rails moved to Chesterfield Road in Heeley Bottom, a few doors away from the current shop. Rails moved to another shop on Chesterfield Road and established the first part of its permanent base. In 1996, the neighbouring shop unit was acquired and a period of rapid expansion followed. Rails then launched its first website and was pioneering online model railway retail for both new and second hand items. The late-1990s also saw the growth of the’limited edition’ business – with many exclusive liveries commissioned from major manufacturers. Rapid Expansion – 2000. By the late 1800s, Frances Decauville Manufacturing Company had established themselves as builders of reliable and simple to operate narrow gauge steam locomotives. Many of their designs were intended for use in agricultural, mining, and light industrial settings. One such loco was a Decauville Type 1, 3-ton 0-4-0T built in 1899, construction #302, for the Dombe Grande Sugar Estates in what was then the Portuguese territory of Angola. The loco was named Bathala. In 1930, after three decades of dependable operation, Bathala was placed in a museum on the companys grounds. This act ultimately led to her survival from the civil war and turmoil which impacted that country decades later. After being found again in 2003, and after nearly two years of negotiations, the loco finally made its way to Johannesburg. In what is perhaps a world record for locomotive restoration, the work was completed in only four months! Bathala can now be found operating at the Sandstone Steam Railroad in Bloemfontain, Free State, South Africa. Some years ago we were approached to produce all the Talyllyn Railway locomotives as a commission and although this never came to fruition we had worked up the concepts and designs with a view to producing them of our own accord. Due to developments within the trade we have decided that, rather than waste all this effort, we would bring the first of these, Dolgoch, to the market in 2019. Dolgoch was built by Fletcher, Jennings & Co. In 1866 and is one of the oldest locomotives still in active service. A well tank locomotive with a long wheelbase and the driving axle is behind the firebox, Dolgoch was fitted with an unconventional form of Allan valve gear, driven from the leading coupled axle and doubled back to connect to the valve rods. The locomotive was renamed Pretoriabetween about 1900 and 1914 in celebration of the relief of that township in South Africa by Lord Roberts during the Boer War. It then reverted to the original name Dolgoch. For most of the Railways life, names were painted only on the North side of the locomotives (the platform face). Polished brass nameplates have only been carried in preservation. In early 1945, Dolgoch was sent to the Atlas Foundry in Shrewsbury to be overhauled. At this time, the railways only other locomotive Talyllyn was so worn out it could not be safely operated and services on the railway were suspended. Dolgoch was the only operable locomotive from 1945 until 1952, when Edward Thomas was restored for use. Between 1954 and 1963, the locomotive underwent a major overhaul. After receiving a new boiler in 2011, it ran in Crimson Lake livery until 2015 when along with its sister locomotive Talyllyn it was repainted in Indian Red livery which is thought to be a close approximation to the colour carried by these locomotives when delivered by Fletcher Jennings in the 1860s. A percentage of the retail profit from each sale will be donated to the Talyllyn Railway for the future overhaul of Dolgoch, a higher percentage if the model is bought direct from Accucraft UK Ltd. We would like to acknowledge the help we have received from Talyllyn Railway members in preparing the drawings for this model. The model is built to a scale of 16mm:1 (1:19 scale) and follows our standard design brief being internally gas-fired with a centre flue boiler. The model will not be gauge adjustable but will be available in either 32mm (O gauge) or 45mm (1 gauge) and will not have insulated wheels. The axles run in bronze bearings and all the rods and valve gear (simplified Stephenson) will be manufactured from stainless steel. The cab roof flips up and over sideways to give access to the gas and water, the lubricator filler is in one of the bunkers. The copper boiler is fitted with a gauge glass (with blow down) and the displacement lubricator has an under-floor drain valve. The model is built from stainless steel and brass. Although fitted with TR buffers and couplings the model will be supplied with a pair of our Z2 chopper couplings for those who wish to use them.
