The famous 1938 streamliner New York Central J3a Dreyfuss Hudson, styled by Henry Dreyfuss, is the first offering in the Lionel Smithsonian Collection of model trains. The Lionel Smithsonian Collection J3a Dreyfuss Hudson is a Limited Edition recreation of the original in uncompromising and full operating detail. Only 500 of these scale locomotives and tenders will be built. Each will be individually numbered and handcrafted of brass, nickel silver and stainless steel, and will feature a state-of-the-art sound and smoke system. This J3a Dreyfuss Hudson locomotive comes with a fully operational oak display case controlling the drive, sound and smoke systems. The Dreyfuss Hudson will be available in August 1992. Lionel O gauge Smithsonian 18031 BR50 Deutsche Bundesbahn two rail locomotive and tender #74/150 with original box, control, and display case. In Like New (C8) condition. There is a crack on the display case (see photos). Loco has most likely been run on rollers on the display board. Runs on DC power. Fantastic for the collector! The Lionel BR50 is a true-scale locomotive and it incorporates… New and unique technology…. The Lionel BR50 locomotive model is constructed of formed and fabricated brass sheet and therefore must be handled differently than a traditional diecast Lionel steam locomotive. The Lionel BR50 locomotive model is a Direct Current (DC) powered model. Any application of alternating current (AC) as is supplied by most traditional Lionel power supplies will destroy the drive motor and sound system electronics…. The Lionel BR50 locomotive model is designed to run on two rail scale track with a minimum curvature radius of 70 inches. Although the track gauge is the same as traditional Lionel three rail track, the locomotive will not operate on any of the various three rail track systems available. Attempting to operate the BR50 on three rail track may cause damage to your DC power supply or the locomotive itself.
