Lionel New York Central. L-3a Mohawk 4-8-2 Steam Engine and Tender. This set looks as if it has not been used, but it was displayed behind glass and is a little dusty beyond what I was able to clean. I tested this set and the Railsounds sounded great and are very loud, but the engine would not move. With more transformer power the engine would hum louder, but it would not move forward or reverse. I didn’t want to press it and damage something so I only tried two or three times. I think from sitting for years in a collection without usage the oil may huge clogged up the workings and it needs to be cleaned. This set was issued with the following features. Die Cast Body and Frame. Metal hand rails and grab irons. Directional Light on Tender with ElectroCoupler. Approximately 28 1/4 Inches Long. The box has some shelf wear and creasing in the corners.
